Katherine Burstein

Katherine Burstein is an Associate with Mercer’s Responsible Investment team in New York and a book review editor for the Journal of Environmental Investing. Prior to joining Mercer, Katherine worked for New Amsterdam Partners, LLC and Calvert Group, Ltd, where she researched environmental, social and governance issues and helped inform company procedures relating to responsible investment.

Katherine graduated from Bard College in 2009 with a degree in Environmental Studies and Economics. In her lead role on the Bard Socially Responsible Investment Committee, Katherine helped negotiate a formal shareholder agreement with McDonald’s Corporation regarding the company’s pesticide use on potato crops. Her undergraduate thesis, The Sustainability of Corporate Profits: Leveraging Capital Markets for Long-Term Value Creation, sets up an analytical framework for integrating environmental, social and governance factors into financial valuation models.
